Background and goals
Leading up to the Annual Meetings 2018 in Indonesia on Oct 10-14, 2018, the IMF is running a photo contest to showcase how ASEAN countries are tackling climate change or reducing inequality.
What:
Photos of people, places, nature, events that showcase how ASEAN countries are reducing inequality or combating climate change.
Images must be original and taken personally by the photographer, not previously published.
No entries using advertising, inappropriate images, or that violates any laws are allowed.
Photos must have a caption, in English, of no more than 150 words to explain the photo.
Prizes:
Two first prize winners will be invited to attend the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings in Bali, Indonesia. To include economy-class return flight to Bali, Indonesia, with full-board accommodation for 3 nights and ground transportation in Bali.
The IMF will provide any necessary written invitations for the winners to apply for a visa to enter Indonesia.
Winners to make any necessary visa applications in their own time and at their own expense.
Winners selected to travel to the 2018 Annual Meetings in Bali, Indonesia will act as IMF youth photographers for the day. The winners should agree to provide IMF, free of any additional charge, a selection of at least 50 images documenting the Annual Meetings.

Post your photographs on your Instagram account, add a caption and use the hashstags: #IMF_VTI, #IMFclimate (for Climate Change photos ) and/or #IMFinequality (for Inequality photos). Tag @The_IMF on your photos.
The photo caption should be in English and explains:
How your country is combating climate change.
How your country is reducing inequality.
There is no limit the number of times a participant may enter the competition.
IMF will disqualify form the competition any photos it deems inappropriate.
When:
Post your photo/s anytime between March 1, 2018 and 11:59pm (EST) on April 7, 2018
Winners will be announced after April 20th
Who:
Open to Instagrammers 18-30 years old of all abilities and are resident of the 10 ASEAN countries.
To be eligible for prizes, participants must reside in the ASEAN region, are 18-30 years old, have a valid passport and be available to travel to the meeting location (Bali, Indonesia) for 3 days on October 10-14, 2018.
IMF employees, vendors and their direct family members are not eligible to compete
Participation:
Photos should be taken from the ASEAN Countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
There is no limit to the number of times a participant may enter the competition.
By participating in the competition, participants grant the IMF the [exclusive] right to print, copy, and display and distribute their entries.
Judging:
Entries will be judged by IMF staff and decisions cannot be appealed.
The photos will be judged based on:
30% Impact –is the sense one gets upon viewing an image for the first time. Compelling images evoke laughter, sadness, anger, pride, wonder or another intense emotion.
25% Creativity - is the original, fresh, and external expression of the imagination of the maker by using the medium to convey an idea, message or thought.
25% Subject Matter - should always be appropriate to the story being told in an image.
20% Technical excellence – is the print quality of the image itself as it is presented for viewing. Retouching, manipulation, sharpness, exposure, printing, mounting, and correct color are some items that speak to the qualities of the physical print.
IMF Picture Use:
Th submitted entries will be featured in a photo exhibit at the Annual Meetings which will be held on Oct 10-14, 2018 in Bali Indonesia.
Entrants will retain their intellectual property rights to their photos and agree to grant the IMF a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty free license to use all submitted photos and all photos taken by the winners at the 2018 Annual Meetings in Bali. IMF reserves the right to edit and publish any of the submitted photos on its website or other fora for nonprofit use.
