VITARA - Audit Program (VITARA-AUD)
This eight-hour course aims to build knowledge and understanding of how audit contributes to compliance, and key considerations in managing and resourcing an audit program. The course covers key areas such as the legal framework, organization and governance of the audit function, the audit process as well as staffing, training, systems, tools and performance measurement in the audit domain.
The course is a joint initiative of four international organizations: Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Target Audience
Executives and senior managers in tax administrations responsible for developing and managing the audit function. The course is also useful for other tax administration staff involved in setting or executing audit policies and procedures and developing annual budget expectations for audits conducted.
Qualifications
There are no prerequisites. Access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection and a Google Chrome web browser is essential.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe the role of audit in compliance.
- Understand the relationship between compliance risk management, case selection and audit.
- Delineate the legislative provisions needed to support an audit program.
- Address organizational issues in the audit field.
- Recognize the tools and systems required for the implementation of an audit program.
- Explain the staffing requirements for an audit program.
- Identify audit-related performance measures at strategic, operational, and individual level.
