Specialized Assistants / Administrative Assistants
IMF assistants are engaged in multi-faceted and consistently evolving roles. The work is exciting and involves a lot of problem solving. The IMF works directly with its member nations on key global economic challenges to ensure economic stability and growth and our assistants often play a critical role in supporting this mission.
As an assistant at the IMF, you will be part of a highly skilled team with a ringside seat to important decisions that impact the global economy. We recruit assistants for positions across the IMF with experience in areas including administration, research, budget, finance, accounting, human resources, communication, and information technology.

Whatever the assignment, our assistants’ ability to contribute ideas and work behind the scenes to coordinate various activities is an integral part of the team and their success.
Who Should Apply
Our assistants are drawn from across our member nations and represent a highly diverse workforce. However, to be eligible for an assistant role, you are usually required to already be living in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. (Non-US citizens are eligible for a visa through the IMF). Most of our assistants will have a bachelors-level degree and/or relevant work experience.

Opportunities for assistant roles will be advertised periodically on our Workday website.
Administrative Assistant roles are also advertised on an ongoing basis throughout the year and are normally initially hired into an Administrative Assistant pool. Most of our Administrative Assistants initially join the IMF on a contractual basis as part of this pool.
