Giving
Last year’s annual giving campaign, “Together for Every Child”, which ran from November 2023 to January 2024 raised $3.4 million in donations and matching funds from IMF staff and retirees to support organizations helping children in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and across the globe.
In addition, the Giving Together program organized fundraisers to support humanitarian and disaster relief efforts in Morocco, Libya, Gaza, Israel, and Yemen, all of which raised $592,000 (including the corporate match).
Grants
In addition to the IMF’s corporate matching on employee donations to charitable organizations, the Fund also runs an annual grant program. In fiscal year 2024, the grants program focused on local charities that foster economic independence through educational and economic opportunities, in addition to other areas of focus.
In fiscal year 2024, the IMF awarded 17 grants amounting to US$ 217,500 to charities in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Volunteering
Service has always been a key component of the Giving Together program. Both through Fund-wide service days and through individual and small group service activities, it is just one of the many ways in which IMF staff give back to their local communities. More than 400 staff members volunteered in 2024.
During Fiscal Year 2024, staff volunteered to help a wide variety of nonprofit organizations serving the Washington, D.C. metro area. This included assembling kits for the homeless in partnership with Miriam’s Kitchen, to commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of service, and cleaning up local parkland in collaboration with Ward 8 Woods.
That spirit of service is seen throughout the year. With the 2023 Annual Meetings taking place in Marrakech, the IMF and World Bank staff organized a volunteering event in Marrakesh to help people affected by the devastating earthquake in partnership with Project Soar.
