Dr. Carlos E. Caceres is the Resident Representative for the International Monetary Fund in Zimbabwe. Dr. Caceres joined the International Monetary Fund in 2009 and has worked in the African, European, Western Hemisphere, Monetary and Capital Markets, Middle East and Central Asia, and Fiscal Affairs Departments. His country experiences at the IMF include Armenia, Bolivia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Republic of Congo, Germany, India, Moldova, Poland, South Africa, Switzerland, the United States, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. Before joining the Fund, Dr. Caceres worked at the European Investment Bank, Morgan Stanley and the World Bank. He holds a PhD in Economics from Oxford University, an MPhil in Economics also from Oxford University and a MEng in Engineering with Business-Finance from the University College London and London School of Economics.

Petronella Chishawa,
Economist

Petronella Chishawa is a local economist. She joined the office in November 2014. Prior to joining the IMF’s local office, she was serving the Government of Zimbabwe as a Principal Economist at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development where she worked for 9 years. She has a MSc. Degree in international trade policy and trade law and a Post Graduate Diploma in international trade policy and law from Lund University, Sweden and a BSc. Honors’ Degree in economics from the University of Zimbabwe.

Andrew Ziswa,
Economist

Andrew Ziswa is a local economist. He joined the office in December 2023. Prior to joining the IMF’s local office, he worked in the Zimbabwean banking sector for Steward Bank and ZB Bank, the International Organization for Migration and the Government of Zimbabwe in the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises. He holds a MSc. Degree in Finance and Investment from the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe, a BComm in Economics from the Midlands State University and is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers Zimbabwe (AIOBZ).

Administrative Assistant

Beatrice Banda is the administrative assistant. She joined the IMF’s local office in September 2014. Prior to that she worked 11 years as an administrator / office manager in the private sector where she gained a wealth of experience. She is currently pursuing a Chartered Institute of Secretaries (CIS) qualification.

James Rusike,
Office Driver

James Rusike is the driver in the IMF’s local office. He joined the IMF in 2016 and worked for the government prior to that. He started his career as a pool driver, and was a VIP driver in various government offices for 8 years.
