Mid to Senior levels officials from Governments of Bhutan, India and Nepal as identified by the respective Ministries of Finance.
Qualifications
Participants should have experience in fiscal policy, budgeting, expenditure management and/or economics.
Course Description
This course shall present the good practices and IMF tools in select public financial management topics and their role in promoting efficient fiscal management in the areas of budgeting, fiscal risk management, macro-fiscal frameworks and public investment management.
Course Objectives
On completing this course, participants should:
- Better understanding of the relationship between macroeconomic forecasting and fiscal forecasting.
- Appreciate and describe the importance of public finance legislation to enshrine accountability and promoting the efficient and effective use of public funds.
- Understand the key concepts of fiscal risk management and the IMF tools available to assist government to identify, quantify and manage them.
- Understand the principles of efficient public investment management and how climate and gender can be incorporated into project appraisals.
- Share peer information on current and proposed public finance reforms in each of the participants countries.
