    Course Description

    A key objective of tax administration is to attain high rates of voluntary on-time payment and low incidence of tax arrears. Preventing arrears from occurring, and effective management and early collection of arrears when they arise, therefore, need to be key priorities. The course aims to provide participants exposure to the key fundamentals of efficient and effective payment systems to minimize the occurrence of arrears and effective management of arrears collection. Areas covered during the workshop include:

    • Legal Framework for collections and arears management
    • Payment Thinking: use of behavioral insights
    • Understanding Arrears
    • Smarter Debt/Arrears Collection
    • Arrears Prevention and Management

    Upon successfully completing the training course, participants will be equipped with tools to support them in management of collections and arrears, leading to each country developing a country action plan to take back to their respective countries for consideration and implementation.

    Course Objectives

    Collection of revenue for the Government and the community is a critical role of tax administrators. This course aims to provide the participants with exposure to the fundamentals of payment and collections systems to minimize the occurrence of arrears as well as international best practices in treating arrears, including the use of behavioral insights and emerging technologies.
