Target Audience
The course targets mid-level and technical staff in central banks of the Bangladesh Bank who are directly involved in advising on or carrying out monetary policy analysis, policy implementation, and market operations.
Qualifications
Participants are expected to work in either a monetary policy department and/or department involved in the operational aspects of monetary policy.
Course Description
The Monetary Policy Implementation Course designed for the Bangladesh Bank, seeks to provide a thorough theoretical and practical background for implementing an interest-rate focused monetary policy framework. The program includes lectures on monetary policy implementation, including money market operations, liquidity forecasting, and liquidity management frameworks. The lectures will be complemented with hands-on exercises simulating the liquidity committee decision-making process. There will be ample room for in-depth discussions and Q&A.
Course Objectives
- Prepare Bangladesh Bank staff to move from a reserve money target to interest operating target.
- Improve understanding of operating on an interest rate corridor and conducting open market operations.
- Develop an adequate liquidity monitoring and forecasting framework.
- Prepare the inputs for the liquidity committee.
