Tryggvi Gudmundsson is an economist in the IMF’s Research Department. Previously, he worked in the Strategy, Policy, and Review Department (SPR), covering macroeconomic policy issues, and in the IMF’s London office where he was responsible for monitoring global financial markets. He has also worked in the European Department and the Monetary and Capital Markets Department. His research has focused on a variety of macro-financial issues. Prior to joining the IMF, Tryggvi held positions in central banking, a hedge fund, and in investment banking. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics.
