Tony Annett

Anthony Annett is Assistant to the Director in the IMF’s Communications Department. From 2014-17, he was an Advisor at the Center of Sustainable Development, Columbia University, where he worked on the intersection of ethics, economics, and sustainable development. He joined the IMF in 1998, and from 2009-14 held the position of Speechwriter to the Managing Director. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University, and a B.A. and M.Litt. from Trinity College Dublin. In 2017, he was awarded a doctorate in humane letters, honoris causa, by the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, and was inducted into its College of Fellows. He is also on the Leadership Council of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
