Gerd Schwartz is Deputy Director of the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD), where he oversees the department’s work on fiscal management, including infrastructure governance. Before joining the IMF, he worked at the European Investment Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. He earned a PhD in economics from the State University of New York at Albany and has done research on fiscal and financial policy and management issues.
