Adolfo Barajas is a Senior Economist in the Global Financial Stability Analysis Division of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the IMF, where his primary responsibility is to work on analytical chapters for the IMF’s semi-annual Global Financial Stability Report. During his career at the Fund, he has worked in the Institute for Capacity Development, delivering courses on macroeconomic and financial topics; and in the Western Hemisphere and Middle East and Central Asia departments of the Fund, participating in program and surveillance missions, as well as contributing to multilateral surveillance and analysis, as an author of chapters of the Regional Economic Outlook for the Middle East and Central Asia region. He received his doctorate in Economics from Stanford University and has publications on topics such as financial development and financial inclusion, macroeconomic effects of remittances, exchange rate policy and balance sheet vulnerabilities of corporations.
