John Simon is a senior economist at the IMF's Research Department. Prior to joining the IMF in 2011 he was a senior management executive at the Reserve Bank of Australia working on monetary policy and payments policy issues. He received his PhD from MIT in 2000 and his thesis formed the basis for seminal work with Olivier Blanchard on the Great Moderation.
