Gaston Gelos is Assistant Director in the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department, where he heads the Monetary and Macroprudential Policies Division. Previously, he held various positions in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department, the IMF Institute, the Research Department, and the European and Western Hemisphere departments, including as the IMF’s Resident Representative to Argentina and Uruguay. His research covers a range of macro-financial topics, and has been widely published in academic journals. He holds a PhD from Yale University and a Diplom from the University of Bonn.
