Baoping Shang is a senior economist in the IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department. At the IMF, his work to date has covered a wide range of countries—including Egypt, Greece, Indonesia, Mexico, and Mongolia—and fiscal policy issues, particularly in the areas of energy subsidies, health, and income inequality. Prior to his current position, Mr. Shang worked at several leading research institutions, including RAND, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and the Urban Institute. He holds a Ph.D. in policy analysis.
