A staff team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Charalambos Tsangarides, IMF mission chief for Tanzania, held meetings in Dodoma and Dar es Salaam from October 23 to November 3, 2023, to discuss progress on reforms and the authorities’ policy priorities in the context of the second review of Tanzania’s forty-month program under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF).

The IMF and Cabo Verde authorities reached a staff-level agreement on a request for access under the newly established Resilience and Sustainability Trust (approximately US$ 31.69 million) and the completion of the third review under the 36-month Extended Credit Facility.

IMF staff and the Gambian authorities have reached a staff-level agreement on economic policies and reforms to be supported by a new 3-year arrangement under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF), with requested access of SDR74.64 million (around US$100 million).

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team, led by Ms. Laura Jaramillo, conducted discussions with the Somali authorities in Nairobi, Kenya during September 11-22, 2023 and October 22-24, 20223 and reached a staff-level agreement on economic policies and reforms to be supported by a new 36-month arrangement, with access of SDR 75 million (about US$100 million, 46 percent of quota) under the Extended Credit Facility.

The Comorian authorities and IMF staff have reached a staff-level agreement on economic policies and reforms for completion of the first review under the 4-year ECF-supported program. The review once formally completed by the IMF Executive Board would release about US$4.7 million in financing.

Australia’s economy has been resilient, even though growth is forecast to slow to 1¼ percent in 2024, in response to tighter macroeconomic policies and financial conditions. Unemployment remains low, output above potential, and housing prices have picked up after a correction in 2022. Risks to the outlook stem from high and persistent inflation, a more uncertain global environment, and climate-related shocks.
