The International Monetary Fund wants to listen to the concerns, questions, expectations, and suggestions from young leaders of the Caribbean about the future of the region and how the IMF can serve their countries better.

The IMF and the University of the West Indies (UWI), in partnership with the Caribbean Media Corporation, will hold a Town Hall meeting at UWI’s Cave Hill Campus, Barbados on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. The Town Hall Meeting titled “Caribbean Leaders of Tomorrow: Ask the IMF” will allow Caribbean students and youth leaders to ask the Director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere Department, Nicolás Eyzaguirre, questions relating to the IMF and its role in the region.
The objective of this initiative, the second in Latin American and the Caribbean, is to engage with the next generation of leaders, to get their perspectives on key economic issues, and to motivate their thinking at an early stage on policy measures that will be needed to preserve economic stability and secure sustainable growth and poverty reduction in the Caribbean.
The IMF and the UWI invite students and youth leaders from the Caribbean region to submit questions about the global economy, regional economic issues, the role of the IMF, and concerns about their own economic future, among others. Those interested in participating should submit questions by completing a form (available in Word format and PDF format) and returning it by e-mail to salises@cavehill.uwi.edu. UWI will select a set of questions which will be put to the IMF during the live Town Hall Meeting. Questions will also be taken from the audience live.
The submission of questions closes on Monday, January 24, 2011.
