Roundtable for the launch of the Graduate School of Global Governance at Meiji University December 6, 2014

This JISPA newsletter brings you up-to-date information on JISPA events as well as featured alumni and scholars. JISPA provides scholarships for junior government officials of key economic agencies in Asia and the Pacific who wish to undertake graduate studies in related fields at universities in Japan.

This eighth issue introduces the JISPA activities during December 2014 - February 2015. It features Mr. Aktilek Tungatarov , Executive Director of the International Business Council, as a successful alumnus to illustrate his career path. Ms. Shweta from Ministry of Finance, India has also contributed an article as a representative among the current scholars.

JISPA Today

Mr. Ganelli Roundtable: On December 6, 2014, Mr. Ganelli (Senior Economist, OAP) advertised the JISPA and other Japan-financed capacity building activities at a roundtable for the launch of the Graduate School of Global Governance at Meiji University. In his presentation, Mr. Ganelli emphasized that the main goal of the JISPA is to train junior officers from emerging Asia with a high career potential. The audience included both faculty and graduate students, some of which are officers in JISPA target countries. At a reception which was held after the presentation, several participants expressed interest in applying to the JISPA in the future, including for the Open Track. My participation in JISPA and my degree from IUJ opened new opportunities and horizons for me. It certainly helped me in my career development and I hope that I am using the knowledge and experience that I received in Japan for the best of my country’s socio-economic development.

I would like to use my knowledge and skills to formulate and evaluate macroeconomic policy and also develop a framework and instruments for macroeconomic modeling.

Ms. ShwetaMs. Shweta is currently on study leave from Ministry of Finance, India. She is a 2014-15 JISPA scholar studying at National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS). Read More
