Hi,

I am trying to find out if the World / Emerging Market Real GDP Annual Percentage Change number is a weighted-average of all countries or not. If so, which indicator did it use to weight the aggregate? I tried to find more details around how the World/Emerging Market Real GDP annual percentage change is calculated, but failed. Could you please provide more details on this topic?

Thank you for your question. The World / Emerging Market Real GDP Annual Percentage Change number is a weighted-average of all countries . The individual country GDP growth rates are in local currency and the aggregates are GDP growth rates in local currency weighted by GDP valued at PPPs as a share of group GDP.

We provide a discussion of how we aggregate for country groups in our WEO Database FAQ page.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Mandy
