Jean Portier is Senior Financial Expert in the Global Markets Analysis Division of the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department. He contributes to the Global Financial Stability Report on issues related to banking, financial stability, and euro area. His most recent assignment was in Europe, where he analyzed recent changes in the operating models of banks and the contribution of regulations to these changes. Previously, he was a commercial banker, a strategy and a corporate finance advisor in the financial sector and participated in a number of bank restructurings in Europe. He holds an undergraduate degree from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris and an MBA from INSEAD.
