October 11, 2017

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) agreed to enhance cooperation to promote the common goals of regional and global financial stability in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed today in Washington, D.C. by IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and Dr. Junhong Chang, Director of the AMRO.

“Cooperation and information exchange is the lynchpin of effective global and regional economic analysis,” Ms. Lagarde stated. “This agreement with AMRO will help the IMF deepen its ongoing work in the ASEAN+3, and I look forward to an even more fruitful and productive relationship through the cooperation agreement we signed today.”

Under the MOU, the IMF and the AMRO will continue to promote their common goals of regional and global financial stability through advancing cooperation and leveraging of each other’s expertise. The two parties intend to cooperate by exchanging views related to macroeconomic surveillance, providing training for staff, other capacity building and joint research projects and seminars.
