Press Release: IMF Deputy Managing Director Min Zhu Extends Condolences to Victims of Cyclone Winston in Fiji

Mr. Min Zhu, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the following statement today:

“It is with great sadness that I learned of the destruction caused by Cyclone Winston in Fiji. Our thoughts are with the victims of the devastation. We admire the resilience of the people of Fiji. We wish your government and your people fortitude in the face of this calamity and remain prepared to assist Fiji in dealing with the aftermath and rebuilding the economy over the coming months.

“An IMF team stands ready to visit Fiji at short notice to help the government assess the macroeconomic situation and policies and determine any potential financing needs and assistance.”
