Alexander Tieman, IMF Resident Representative in Macedonia, recently gave an interview to Kapital magazine (June 13, 2012 issue, no. 659) on the occasion of the IMF executive board meeting on Macedonia. Statement by an IMF Mission to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia  

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission headed by Wes McGrew visited Skopje from June 14-22. The purpose of the visit was to discuss economic policies with the authorities and assess economic and financial conditions in the context of the first review under the Precautionary Credit Line (PCL). The team would like to thank the Macedonian authorities for their hospitality and open discussions.

IMF Executive Board Approves €475.6 million Arrangement for Macedonia Under the Precautionary Credit Line  

On January 19, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund approved a two-year arrangement for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia under the Precautionary Credit Line. In addition, the Executive Board concluded the country’s 2010 Article IV consultation. The full staff report is expected to be published within the next few weeks.

An IMF team from headquarters in Washington, DC, USA, has arrived in Skopje. The team, consisting of 4 IMF staff members and headed by Mr. Wes McGrew, will conduct surveillance of the Macedonian economy between November 4 and November 17. This kind of surveillance is performed regularly for all 187 IMF member countries.
