Target Audience
The workshop is intended for officials employed in the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics who are integrally involved in the compilation of national accounts.
Qualifications
Participants are expected to possess a degree in economics or statistics, or equivalent experience.
Course Description
This course shall present theoretical and practical issues related to the compilation of Index of Service production (ISP). The course is mainly based on the OECD Compilation Manual for an Index of Service Production. The aim of the course is to provide participants with necessary skills to compile the ISPs. The course consists of lectures covering conceptual and methodological issues as well as exercises that require the application of these concepts and methods. The course covers the following topics:
Sources and methods of ISP compilation.
Treatment of input data.
Index compilation.
Seasonal adjustment; and
Revision analysis.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Apply recommended index calculation methods.
- Apply methods for dealing with such index compilation challenges such as unavailable items, and quality change.
- Assess how well an ISP meets international guidelines for best practice.
