Qualifications
No formal qualification is required, but it is expected that participants should have experience in working on (or at least exposure to) one of the following areas: fiscal reports, financial statements, budgets, fiscal forecasts, and FMIS.
Course Description
Digitization of public financial management (PFM) processes has seen accelerated progress in the past year aiming to ensure efficiency in operation during times of crisis. It has supported administration of safety nets, improved delivery of services and more effective cash and debt management. Yet, the task remains unfinished.
This seminar will inform participants of the potential for future advancements by leveraging existing and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and promote accountability and transparency in budget management and improved delivery of essential services. The seminar will also explore the way in which a digital PFM system can interact with other systems to facilitate good governance.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this seminar/workshop, participants should be able to:
- Appreciate the importance of developing an appropriate framework for financial management information systems (FMIS) development
- Recognize the linkages between FMIS development and PFM reform
- Appreciate the role of emerging technologies in PFM
- Identify cybersecurity challenges
- Connect and share experiences with peers and benefit from this shared learning
