Qualifications
Participants are expected to have a degree in economics, finance, statistics, or equivalent work experience. Participants' current job or responsibilities at work should be linked to the topic of the workshop.
Course Description
The workshop will address key issues related to data collection and usage of the Financial Access Survey (FAS), the IMF's annual supply-side database on financial inclusion. It will provide an overview of FAS data, highlight its role in policymaking and monitoring financial access and usage, and share insights from the 2024 FAS pilot. Additionally, the workshop will explore the future direction of the FAS, including the 2025 FAS Pilot.
Peer learning will be a central component, offering participants the opportunity to engage in discussions, ask questions, and share their experiences with data collection. Attendees will also have the chance to discuss challenges in reporting information for the upcoming 2025 FAS Pilot.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Understand the nature and content of the FAS data.
- Grasp the variables of the 2025 FAS Pilot, including financial health, gender-disaggregated, and digital financial services information.
- Improve FAS data collection and reporting through peer learning.
- Become familiar with the use of FAS data including for tracking the trends, benchmarking, and policymaking.
