Statement by IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato on the Sharm el-Sheik Bombings in the Arab Republic of Egypt
Mr. Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the following statement today in reaction to the July 23 bombings in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt:
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of life from the brutal attacks in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik. I want to extend, in my name and all members of the IMF, my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, and to the people and government of Egypt. This is another horrific example of efforts to undermine freedom, peace and security. The IMF—as a key institution for multinational collaboration—will remain committed to doing its part in the fight against terrorism."
