IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato to Visit Japan, China, Singapore, and VietnamThe Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Rodrigo de Rato, will travel to Tokyo, Japan (June 21-22); Beijing, China (June 23-24); Singapore (June 25); and Hanoi, Vietnam (June 26) to meet with leaders and senior government officials of these countries and hear their perspectives on the work of the Fund. Mr. Rato is particularly interested in the views of the IMF's Asian membership regarding the Fund's ongoing efforts to enhance its effectiveness in dealing with the challenges of the global economy. He will also discuss each country's economic situation and outlook as well as regional issues. It will be Mr. Rato's first visit to the region as Managing Director since taking office on June 7, 2004. IMF EXTERNAL RELATIONS DEPARTMENT
